CLASSES
Classes are held in Annandale and Alexandria VA and are available for ages three years to adult. Classes run from
30 minutes to 2 hours.
PERFORMANCES
Performances are held each spring for our annual recital. In addition to the Spring Recital, we carry on the tradition of our International Christmas Performance, which has delighted audiences for years. We also perform at the Green Spring Nursing Home throughout the year, spreading "happiness through dancing."
HISTORY
International Dance carries on
the long and distinguished legacy of the former English Royal Ballet
Soloist and The School of International Dance Founder
Christina Heimlich (1918 – 2012).
Thousands of dancers have benefited over the years from her unique and matchless style and discipline as they will continue on into the future.
ABOUT
International Dance, LLC. was founded as The School of International Dance by Christina Heimlich in 1962. The school is directed by Elizabeth Hawkins. Our instructors are Elizabeth Hawkins, Becca Collier ~ Assistant Director, Sarah Brinkmann , Victoria Hawkins, Natalie Clingenpeel and Misha Mlejova.
Our purpose and goal to preserve and promote Christina Heimlich's vision and discipline through her teachings in international dance and classical ballet. We teach to the individual inspiring each dancer to strive for their full potiential.
As a student, your child will learn about pre-ballet or ballet, creative movement as well as international folk and character dance. We also offer lyrical, tap and jazz. Participation in our classes will encourage development of motor coordination skills, balance, partnering, flexibility, strength, concentration, independence, creativity through use of imagination, poise, posture, rhythm,
discipline—all while having fun and learning about music and dance.
